How is HEAL going to help?

  • Identify

We propel applicants forward by identifying core admissions competencies students need to exemplify to matriculate into the program of their choice.

  • Create

At HEAL, we've already started creating opportunities for you to see first-hand how these competencies will make you a better applicant and future physician.

  • Build

We'll help you build and demonstrate to medical schools that the competencies you've developed as a HEALer have prepared you for your medical career.

Your Challenge:

Select from the list of competencies, which encompass aspects of interpersonal communication, scientific aptitude, and reasoning ability, that medical schools look for their applicants to have demonstrated during their journey to a medical career:

  • Clinical Reasoning

  • Teamwork

  • Cultural Competency

  • Resilience

  • Scientific Aptitude

  • Managing Stressful Situations

  • Medical Ethics

  • Research

Create a Plan

Find ways not only to develop these competencies, but also to put your work on display.

  • Interview a pre-med and ask them what they're doing to work on these areas of their application

  • Attend HEAL 101, Intensives, or Anytime courses

  • Discuss opportunities with a professor, advisor, or mentor

  • Find YouTube content that gives you ways to find opportunities in your community or university campus

Don't procrastinate!

Medical schools appreciate development in their applicants. They want to see you developing and demonstrating these core competencies throughout your undergraduate education and experience.
